SEA ISLAND, GA. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team finished tied for 11
th place in the Sea Island Invitational, hosted by Rutgers on Tuesday at Sea Island-Plantation Golf Course.
TEAM
- UNCG carded rounds of 278-287-289 for an overall score of 10-under-par (854), finishing tied for 11th place with Princeton.
- The Spartans finished ahead of Penn State, Kennesaw State and West Virginia, respectively.
- Georgia Southern and Florida Gulf Coast claimed a tie for first place in the tournament with a 42-under-par (822).
- UNCG finished tied for fourth in the field with 173 total pars across the three rounds.
- The Spartans finished eighth in the tournament with a 3.96 average on par four holes.
- UNCG's first round score of 10-under-par (278) was a season-best.
INDIVIDUAL
- B.J. Boyce finished on top for the Spartans in a tie for 17th place with an overall score of eight-under-par (208) behind rounds of 66-70-72. He finished second in the field with a 3.73 average on par four holes.
- Jake Lewis came behind Boyce with a three-under-par (213), finishing in a tie for 41st place with rounds of 69-72-72.
- Kelvin Hernandez followed closely behind, carding a tie for 45th place. Hernandez notched a two-under-par (214) with round scores of 71-71-72.
- Dax Isbell posted a five-over-par (221) with scores of 72-74-75 to finish in a tie for 72nd place.
- Liam Percy rounded out the scorecard for the Spartans in a tie for 74th place with a six-over-par (222) behind rounds of 75-73-73. Percy finished second in the field with 40 pars across the three rounds.
- Rudy Sautron of Nebraska and Chun-Ta Wu of Minnesota finished on top of the 84-player leaderboard with an overall score of 18-under-par (198).
