Men’s Golf Wraps Up Linger Longer Invitational

GREENSBORO, GA. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team wrapped up competition in the Linger Longer Invitational on Sunday, finishing in 14th place at Reynolds Plantation.

TEAM
  • UNCG recorded a 16-over-par (880) with rounds of 285-294-301 to finish in 14th place in the three-day tournament.
  • The Spartans finished ahead of Jacksonville, Wofford and West Georgia, respectively.
  • Host school Georgia secured first-place on the 17-team leaderboard with a 48-under-par (816).
  • The Spartans finished first in the field with 173 total pars in the three rounds.
  • UNCG was tied for eighth with a 3.15 average on par three holes.
INDIVIDUAL
  • Kelvin Hernandez finished on top for the Spartans and tied for 29th place with an even-par score (216) behind rounds of 69-71-76.
  • Hernandez recorded two eagles in the tournament with both coming on the second hole in the first and third rounds. He finished tied for second in the field with 38 total pars and tied for fourth with a 2.92 average on par three holes.
  • Dax Isbell came in behind Hernandez, finishing tied for 45th place with a four-over-par (220). Isbell posted back-to-back even-par (72) rounds, but recorded a four-over-par (76) in Sunday's final round.
  • B.J. Boyce finished tied for 57th place with a five-over-par (221). Boyce started off the tournament with a three-under-par (69) on Friday and recorded rounds of 75-77 to finish things.
  • Jake Lewis notched a seven-over-par (223) to finish tied for 73rd place. Lewis posted the best round for the Spartans on Sunday with an even-par (72), but started off the tournament with rounds of 75-76.
  • Competing as an individual, Will Guidry finished tied for 94th place with a 13-over-par (229) with round scores of 76-75-78.
  • Liam Percy rounded out the scorecard for the Spartans, finishing tied for 98th place with a 16-over-par (232) and round scores of 75-77-80.
  • Carter Loflin of Georgia finished on top of the 106-player leaderboard with an 18-under-par (198).

UP NEXT
The Spartans will travel to Carrollton, Texas, to compete in the Maridoe Collegiate hosted by North Texas from March 30-31, at Maridoe Golf Course.
