SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team fell in game two of the series against Wofford, 6–1, at Russell C. King Field on Saturday afternoon. Brantley Truitt led the way for the offense, going 3-for-4 with two doubles.
The game started quietly as both sides combined for just two hits until the bottom of the third when the Terriers opened the scoring with an RBI groundout that put the score at 1-0. Jake Barbour tied the game up in the top of the fifth with a sacrifice fly bringing home JJ Parsons that knotted up the score at one apiece.
However, that was all the Spartans could muster as Wofford responded with four runs in the bottom of the sixth to extend its lead to 5-1. The Terriers expanded their lead with another run in the bottom of the eighth, 6-1. In the top of the ninth, Truitt led off with a single up the middle to put a runner on first. The speedy centerfielder quickly stole second, but the comeback attempt was stopped short as three straight strikeouts ended the game, 6-1.
