Isbell Leads Men’s Golf After Day One of Mountaineer Invitational

BRIDGEPORT, W.VA. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team wrapped up day one of the Mountaineer Invitational on Monday at Pete Dye Golf Course in Bridgeport, West Virginia.

TEAM
  • The Spartans currently stand tied for ninth place with rounds of 290-301 for an overall score of 15-over-par (591).
  • UNCG is pacing Xavier, Villanova, VCU, George Mason, Western Kentucky, Ball State, William & Mary, Navy and Saint Francis, respectively.
  • Host school, West Virginia is pacing the 19-team leaderboard with a nine-under-par (567).
  • UNCG is currently fifth in the field in total pars with 107 and tied for sixth on par three holes with a 3.35 average.
INDIVIDUAL
  • Dax Isbell stands tied for 12th place after posting rounds of 72-70 on the day with an overall two-under-par (142). He is tied for fifth in the field with a 3.00 average on par three holes.
  • Kelvin Hernandez sits behind Isbell to be in a tie for 29th place after carding rounds of 72-74 with an overall two-over-par (146). He is tied for third in the field with a 3.80 average on par four holes.
  • Jake Lewis boasted a two-under-par (70) in the opening round, but fell short in the second round with a nine-over-par (81) to stand tied for 56th place.
  • B.J. Boyce is currently tied for 77th place with rounds of 78-76.
  • Keenan Royalty rounds out the scorecard for the Spartans to be in a tie for 87th place with rounds of 76-81.
  • Preston Stout of Oklahoma State is pacing the 104-player leaderboard with an eight-under-par (136) behind rounds of 69-67.
