CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's & women's track teams completed day one of The Southern Conference (SoCon) Track & Field Championships on Monday at Catamount Athletic Complex.
Freshman
Camryn Oates earned SoCon All-Freshman honors after competing in the 10000-meter run. She placed 13
th out of 19 competitors in the event with a time of 38.03.29.
Two Spartans earned school records, including
Emery Anderson in the 400-meter run and
Ayzia Jefferson in the 200-meter prelims.
Anderson clocked in a personal best time of 49.13 in the 400-meter preliminary round which broke his own record time of 49.18, which he set in March at the Raleigh Relays. He placed sixth out of 13 competitors and qualified for the finals tomorrow.
Jefferson clocked in a new personal best and school record time of 24.99 in the 200-meter prelims. She placed 10
th out of 21 competitors. This is the third time she has set a new school record in the 200-meter run.
All three Spartans ran personal best times in the 800-meter preliminary round.
Jeremiah Jones led the way with his time of 1:51.98, placing sixth out of 11 competitors, while
Samuel Barnard clocked in a time of 1:52.82, taking home eighth overall. Both Jones and Barnard qualified for the finals tomorrow.
Glodi Mvovi ran a personal best time of 1:53.30, earning a top 10 finish
Luke Ward paced the Spartans with his personal best time of 31:05.07 in the 10000-meter run. He earned an eighth-place mark out of 15 competitors, while
Pierson Guerrant also recorded a top-10 result, clocking in a time of 31:32.82.
