Volleyball to Co-Host Central Carolina Clash

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) volleyball team will look to co-host the Central Carolina Clash on Friday and Saturday. The team will first take on crosstown foe North Carolina A&T on Friday at 6:00 p.m. in Corbett Sports Center. The Spartans will open the 2026 home slate with a doubleheader on Saturday, facing Davidson at noon and North Carolina Central at 6:00 p.m. inside Bodford Arena.

ABOUT THE SPARTANS
  • UNCG comes into the weekend 3-2 overall through two weeks of non-conference action.
  • The Spartans went 2-1 last weekend, falling to Clemson (1-3), but recorded back-to-back wins over App State (3-0) and East Carolina (3-2).
  • UNCG recorded a 17-12 overall record and a 9-7 mark in The Southern Conference (SoCon) last season.
  • UNCG was selected to finish fourth in the 2026 SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll with 50 total points. 
  • The 2026 roster features 12 returners and five newcomers, including four freshmen and one transfer.
  • Junior outside hitter Allie Sweet was named to the SoCon Preseason All-Conference Team after being selected to the All-SoCon First Team last season.
  • Sweet paces the SoCon in attacks per set (13.37) and kills per set (4.42). Her 4.42 kills per set average is 18th in the country.
  • Izora Gragg has been named SoCon Setter of the Week two consecutive weeks, as she leads the league and stands out at 22nd nationally with a 10.68 assists per set average.
  • Connore' Siler-Nixon paces the team in the middle with 19.0 total blocks on the season.
  • Chloe Nussbaum is the leading libero for the Spartans with 68 digs so far this season.
  • As a team, the Spartans are leading the SoCon in assists per set (12.68) and kills per set (13.68).
  • Sweet and Nussbaum both hit career milestones in the team's matchup at Clemson on Sept. 4. Sweet paced the Spartans with 16 kills to secure 1,000 career kills, while after leading UNCG with 19 digs, Nussbaum reached 1,000 career digs.
  • Head Coach Trent Dunahoo is in his first season at the helm of the UNCG volleyball team and fourth season overall with the program. The 3-1 win over Northeastern on Aug. 29 marked his first win as a head coach.
ABOUT THE AGGIES
  • North Carolina A&T currently stands 4-2 overall on the 2026 campaign.
  • The team most recently went 2-1 at SoCon foe Furman's tournament in Greenville, South Carolina, last weekend. The Aggies defeated Queens (3-0) and Furman (3-1) but dropped their match against Presbyterian (1-3).
  • The Aggies concluded the 2025 season 15-12 overall and 10-6 in the CAA.
  • North Carolina A&T was selected to finish fourth on the 2026 CAA Volleyball Preseason Poll with 67 points.
  • Junior outside hitter Tyne Ross was named to the Preseason All-CAA Team, while Zariah Winton was selected as an honorable mention.
  • Luca Radnai is leading the CAA in aces per set (0.61) and service aces (14).
  • Ross paces the conference in kills per set (3.91).
  • Head Coach Hal Clifton is in his 16th season with the Aggies and has produced a 162-246 record during his time.
  • North Carolina A&T will host North Carolina Central tonight at 6:00 p.m. before welcoming UNCG tomorrow night.
ABOUT THE WILDCATS
  • The Wildcats will head to the Triad with a 2-4 mark on the season.
  • Davidson most recently took on the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, last weekend. The team took down Wake Forest, 3-1, but dropped straight-set matches against Georgetown and UCF.
  • The Wildcats concluded the 2025 season 12-16 overall and 7-11 in the A-10.
  • Davidson was picked to finish seventh on the 2026 A-10 Preseason Poll with 42 points.
  • Elena Garcia-Guerrios is leading the conference in attacks per set with a 9.82 average.
  • Kinsey Smith is the leading setter for the Wildcats with 159 assists this season.
  • Adlee Grissett with 76 digs and Ngodoo Harris with 15.0 total blocks are pacing the team defensively.
  • Head Coach Chris Wills is in his 16th season at the helm of the Davidson volleyball program and has notched a 188-228 record during his time.
  • Davidson will face Elon Friday at 7:00 p.m. before taking on the Spartans on Saturday.
ABOUT THE EAGLES
  • North Carolina Central comes into the weekend 2-3 overall.
  • The team most recently fell to UNC Asheville, 0-3, on Tuesday night in Durham, North Carolina.
  • The Eagles wrapped up the 2025 season 10-18 overall and 7-7 in the MEAC.
  • North Carolina Central is leading the MEAC in assists per set (11.37), digs per set (13.84) and hitting percentage (.197).
  • Allyson Rouse is pacing the league with a .394 hitting percentage.
  • Breylon Fairley is second in the MEAC in service aces (13) and aces per set (0.68).
  • North Carolina Central was picked to finish seventh in the MEAC Predicted Order of Finish.
  • Head Coach Jonathan Paulk is in his second season with the Eagles.
  • The Eagles will face North Carolina A&T tonight at 6:00 p.m. and USC Upstate on Friday at 6:00 p.m. at home before taking on UNCG Saturday.

The Spartans are set to conclude the 2026 non-conference slate in Harrisonburg, Virginia, with the James Madison tournament from Sept. 18-20. The team will face the Dukes at 6:00 p.m. on Sept. 18, George Mason on Sept. 19 at 1:00 p.m. and Delaware State on Sept. 20 at noon inside Convocation Center.
