GREENSBORO, NC - The UNC Greensboro women's volleyball team suffered a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to visiting Chattanooga in a Southern Conference match today at Fleming Gymnasium. The setback marked the first time the Spartans (2-19, 0-6 SoCon) have lost three straight matches 3-2 since the program began competing at the Division I level in 1991. The Mocs (4-13, 2-5 SoCon) won by scores of 18-30, 30-22, 30-28, 22-30, 15-10.

UNCG dominated play in game one. The Spartans scored 11 of the first 14 points in the opening game as they cruised to a 30-18 win. The Mocs answered right back with a 30-22 win in game two, and squeezed out a 30-28 victory in game three. The Spartans led by as many as 10, 28-18, before winning 30-22 in game four. In game five, Chattanooga broke an 8-8 tie by scoring seven of the last nine points to pick up the win.

Freshman middle hitter Cindy VanDervoort, a native of Greenville, NC, put away a career-high 28 kills, while fellow middle hitter Lauren Richards, a junior from Hagerstown, MD, added 17 kills for the Spartans.

Rebekah Faulise, a senior from Mooresville, NC, who tied Robin Schuller's school record for digs in a five-game match with 33 against Wofford on Wednesday, came up with 30 to pace the Spartans defensively. Adrian Hicks dished out 52 assists and had 12 digs. Lauren Keiser and Christin Heverly each had 14 and 12 digs respectively.

Chattanooga had four players post double figures in kills, led by Lindsey Galloway's 19. Leslee Ball, Kelly Ramsay and Julianna Martinez each put away 12. Dominique Mayor came up with a game-high 35 digs, while Galloway added 21 of her own.

UNCG will host SoCon rival Davidson on Saturday, October 16 at Fleming Gymnasium at 2 pm.
