Box Score

NORFOLK, VA - Junior Amy Carnell scored the game's lone goal off a corner kick from senior Rakel Logadottir to help the UNC Greensboro women's soccer team open up the 2004 campaign with a thrilling, 1-0, overtime victory over Old Dominion, Friday evening at ODU Soccer Stadium.

The goal for Carnell, which came with 1:07 left in the first overtime, was her 19th of her career, while Logadottir's assist was the 30th in her career, moving her alone in second place on the all-time assist list at UNCG.

Junior goalkeeper Jennifer Stillman stopped seven shots on the night in recording her 12th career shutout of her career.

“It was a hard fought win for us,” said head coach Eddie Radwanski. “Our girls competed hard on both sides of the ball. I am happy to come out with a road win in a very tough place to play.”

The Spartans next face ACC-rival Wake Forest, Monday, August 30 at 7 p.m. at Spry Stadium in Winston-Salem. The Spartans defeated the Demon Deacons, 2-1 in the first round of the 2003 NCAA Tournament in Chapel Hill. Old Dominion returns to action Sunday afternoon, when they host Longwood.  Game time is at 1 pm.
