It seems like there are always postseason ramifications when College of Charleston and UNCG get together on the soccer pitch and Saturday night will be no exception. The Spartans come in having won two straight to get back to even in the SoCon and into the thick of the conference race. College of Charleston, through a quirky schedule, is just getting started. The Cougars topped Elon, 2-0, in their conference opener last Tuesday - which also handed the Phoenix their first conference setback and snapped their eight-game unbeaten streak. The Cougars, after a 6-0-1 start, had been winless in their last four before Tuesday's victory... The match-up features two of the winningest coaches in college soccer history in College of Charleston's Ralph Lundy and UNCG's Michael Parker...UNCG leads the all-time series, 13-4. The Spartans have won the last four meetings and five of the last six... Thomas Campbell has been white hot for the Spartans as of late. The junior from Middletown, NJ had a natural hat trick in UNCG's 4-2 win over Davidson on Tuesday to give him 13 points in his last three games (6g, 1a). The SoCon Player of the Week last week BEFORE his hat trick against the Wildcats, Campbell now leads the team in points (18) and goals (6) and is tied for the lead in the SoCon in points, right alongside Furman's Brooks Duff... College of Charleston is led by sophomore Kareen Yearwood, who is fourth in the SoCon in scoring with 15 points. He has seven goals and one assist on the season... Corbin Waller has been strong in goal for the Cougars this season, logging a 0.89 GAA in 11 matches this season. He is second in the league in total saves with 47 and third in save percentage at .825... The Spartans are on a homestand that will last the remainder of the month. The five-match homestand continues on Tuesday night when No. 2-ranked Wake Forest visits for a 7 pm kickoff.
