GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNC Greensboro women's soccer player Kelly Attayek was recently inducted into UNCG's chapter of the prestigious Beta Gamma Sigma, the international honor society for business students.
Attayek, a senior finance major who finished her career with four straight Southern Conference regular-season titles, owns a 3.70 grade point average. The Raleigh, N.C., midfielder was a two-time All-SoCon selection and a three-time Academic All-SoCon selection. Attayek was also a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District III selection.
Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student can receive at a school accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. UNCG's Bryan School of Business and Economics received Beta Gamma Sigma's Gold Award in 2009, given annually to the top collegiate chapter.
To be eligible for membership, the academic ranking of those being considered must place them in the upper 10 percent of the junior class, upper 10 percent of the senior class or upper 20 percent of the graduating master's class.
"This is very deserving recognition for Kelly," UNCG coach Eddie Radwanski said. "Besides being one of our top scorers for women's soccer the last four years, Kelly is an outstanding student in the classroom, earning spots on the Chancellor's List and Dean's List and now being recognized by Beta Gamma. We are very proud of Kelly, and she is another great example of how student-athletes can excel both on and off the field."
