Storylines:
• Coming off its first win of the season, UNCG will return to the court on Monday as the Spartans host Davidson at 7 p.m. in the Greensboro Coliseum. The game marks the sixth home game for the Spartans in the past seven contests.
• The Wildcats lead the all-time series against the Spartans, 19-7, dating back to 1998. The Spartans haven't won a game in the series in the last nine meetings and have just one win in the last 17 games. Last season, Davidson won the only meeting between the two teams, 60-56, at Davidson. The Wildcats hit a 3-pointer with 27 seconds remaining to break at 56-all tie in the game.
• Davidson has lost four of its five games since the New Year and is coming off a 69-64 loss against Wofford on Saturday. The Wildcats currently sit in fourth place in the South Division with a 2-4 record in the Southern Conference.
• Last Thursday, the Spartans went up the mountain to Appalachian State and broke through for their first win of the season, 75-74. Although the Spartans led for over the final five minutes, they had to come up with three defensive stops in the last 24 seconds to come out on top. Junior Aaron Brackett had a career night as he posted 28 points and 15 rebounds, while senior Brandon Evans added 18. Brian Cole was also in double figures with 10 points for UNCG.
• On Dec. 29, the Spartans faced No. 1 Duke before a sellout crowd and a nationally televised audience on ESPNU. UNCG dropped the game, 108-62, that saw Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski move into second place all-time for the most win's in Division I history. It also marked the third time that the Spartans have faced the No. 1 team in the nation.
• The 22,178 fans that attended the Spartans' contest against No. 1 Duke on Dec. 29 in the Greensboro Coliseum marked the largest crowd to ever see a UNCG contest, either home or away. The attendance broke the previous school record set in 2005 when UNCG also hosted No. 1 Duke in the Coliseum.
• UNCG was winless in its first 15 outings this season after facing six ACC opponents and very tough Richmond and VCU teams. The 0-15 start by the Spartans marked the worst start in school history, breaking the record set by the 1967-68 and 1968-69 teams, which both started 0-7.
• Junior College transfer Aloysius Henry has provided an immediate spark in the post for the Spartans. He currently leads the team in scoring (11.2 ppg) and is also first in rebounding (6.0 rpg), while shooting 45.3% from the field.
• The Spartans have had a considerably new look over the last two seasons. In fact, just one person in uniform today was in uniform in the 2008-09 opener at Charlotte – Elhanan Bone. Brandon Evans was sitting out after transferring from East Carolina and Darrius Sellers was injured.
