Storylines:
• UNCG will continue its five-game homestand on Saturday as the Spartans play host to Chattanooga for a 2 p.m. contest in the Greensboro Coliseum. The game also marks the second of three games the Spartans will play in a five day span. UNCG will have to turn around and host Elon on Monday after playing Samford on Thursday.

• The Mocs lead the all-time series against the Spartans, 16-10, dating back to 1991. Last season, the Spartans fell on the road in the first game between the two teams, 58-45. UNCG rebounded just 10 days later at home to defeat the Mocs, 62-49, in the Greensboro Coliseum.

• Chattanooga comes into the contest on a two-game losing streak after falling to Georgia State on Dec. 30 and Austin Peay on Jan. 3. The Mocs are currently in first place in the North Division at 3-0 after defeating Appalachian State, Western Carolina and Elon in early December.

• On Thursday night, UNCG narrowly fell to Samford, 68-64, in the first Southern Conference game for the Spartans in a month. The Spartans trailed by 40-27 at the break, but came storming out of halftime and erased the deficit with a 13-0 run. UNCG cut the Samford lead to two twice in the final 38 seconds, but couldn't get any closer as the Bulldogs held on for the four-point win.

• On Dec. 29, the Spartans faced No. 1 Duke before a sellout crowd and a nationally televised audience on ESPNU. UNCG dropped the game, 108-62, that saw Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski move into second place all-time for the most win's in Division I history. It also marked the third time that the Spartans have faced the No. 1 team in the nation.

• The 22,178 fans that attended the Spartans' contest against No. 1 Duke on Dec. 29 in the Greensboro Coliseum marked the largest crowd to ever see a UNCG contest, either home or away. The attendance broke the previous school record set in 2005 when UNCG also hosted No. 1 Duke in the Coliseum.

• UNCG is winless in its 13 outings, having already faced six ACC opponents and very tough Richmond and VCU teams. The 0-13 start by the Spartans marks the worst start in school history, breaking the record set by the 1967-68 and 1968-69 teams, which both started 0-7. The 14 game losing streak dating back to last season is the longest losing streak in school history and the Spartans are now just one of four teams in Division I without  a victory.

• Junior College transfer Aloysius Henry has provided an immediate spark in the post for the Spartans. He currently leads the team in scoring (11.3 ppg) and is also first in rebounding (5.8 rpg), while shooting 46.7% from the field.

• The Spartans have had a considerably new look over the last two seasons. In fact, just one person in uniform today was in uniform in the 2008-09 opener at Charlotte – Elhanan BoneBrandon Evans was sitting out after transferring from East Carolina and Darrius Sellers was injured.
