Spartans look to rebound Monday at Clemson

GREENSBORO, N.C.—UNCG's nationally-ranked men's soccer looks to get back on the winning side when they visit Clemson, 7 p.m., Monday at Riggs Field.

The Spartans (1-1-0) are hoping to bounce back after suffering a heartbreaking 1-0 double overtime loss at home to East Tennessee on Wednesday. The Buccaneers scored the decisive goal with just 43 seconds remaining in the match.

Clemson opened the 2011 season with a 2-1 loss at UAB, and played host to South Carolina on Friday. The Tigers were picked to finish seventh in the ACC preseason poll.

Spartan Storylines
•    UNCG is 2-5-0 all-time against Clemson
•    The Spartans won the last meeting between the teams, a 2-0 UNCG victory on Sept. 4, 2004 in Greensboro
•    UNCG's only win at Clemson was a 2-1 decision on Sept. 2, 1990
•    UNCG Hall of Famer and former women's soccer head coach Eddie Radwanski is in his first season as head coach of the Clemson women's program after 10 seasons as head coach at his alma mater
•    The Spartans enter Monday's match seeking their best three-game start since the 2006 squad opened 2-1-0
•    Tonight's match is UNCG's second against an ACC opponent this season. The Spartans defeated then-No. 12 Duke 3-2 in the season opener on Aug. 26.
•    The Spartans are 31-48-3 all-time against ACC teams, including 1-0 this season
•    Following their 3-2 win over Duke the Spartans burst into the national polls on Aug. 29, ranking as high as No. 19 by College Soccer News. UNCG was also ranked 20th by Soccer America, 23rd by Soccer Times and 24th by the NSCAA.
•    The rankings are the first for the Spartans since being ranked in the 2007 preseason by both CSN and the NSCAA
