GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG women's soccer freshman Jamie Simmons (Houston, Texas/Clear Brook) has been named this week's Blue Chip Performer sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina after earning two shutouts over the weekend. The Blue Chip Performer is chosen weekly from all sports in season and will run through the 2012-13 UNCG athletics campaign.

Simmons made three saves against Davidson Friday night and followed up her performance with two saves against Georgia Southern Sunday afternoon. Simmons earned her fifth shutout of the season, including three-straight against Wofford, Davidson and Georgia Southern. 

The Houston, Texas native hasn't allowed a goal in 319 minutes since allowing a second half goal against Furman on Oct. 5. Simmons has recorded 84 saves in 16 games this season and is 26 saves away from tying a new school record.

Simmons and the Spartans return to action this weekend against SoCon leading Samford Friday, Oct. 19 at 8 p.m.
