Men’s golf tied for fifth after two rounds at Snowman Getaway

GOODYEAR, Ariz. –UNCG's Colin Chapman is tied for third and the Spartans are in a three-way tie for fifth after two rounds at the Washington State Snowman Getaway, which opened play Monday at Palm Valley Golf Club.

Playing in their second tournament of the spring, the Spartans are tied with Utah Valley and SIU Edwardsville after shooting 601 (296-305). UNCG trails team leader UMKC (592), Missouri State (595), British Columbia (596) and St. John's (600) in the 16-team field.

Chapman carded a two-round total of 140 (69-71) and trails co-leaders Mario Clemens and Jay Hwang – both of UCLA – by one stroke with 18 holes remaining. In two rounds Monday, Chapman recorded 11 birdies as he enjoyed his best back-to-back rounds of the year.

UNCG's Will Almand and Alex Ehlert are tied for 39th at 153. Almand shot 75-78, while Ehlert came in a 74-79.

Andy Knox scuffled his way to a 155 (78-77), good for a tie for 55th. Robert Hoadley also struggled, shooting 159 (81-78). He is tied for 75th.

The third and final round is scheduled for Tuesday.
