Women's Soccer Faces VMI at Home in SoCon Quarterfinals

GREENSBORO, N.C. – No. 2 seed UNC Greensboro women's soccer plays No. 10 VMI Saturday at 2 p.m. at UNCG Soccer Stadium in the quarterfinals of the Southern Conference Tournament. The winner will advance to the semifinals to face either No. 3 ETSU or No. 6 Mercer, which is being hosted by the Bears on Friday, Nov. 2 along with the championship game on Sunday.

All-Time Series Vs. VMI

  • Owns a 4-1-0 record against VMI since the Keydets rejoined the SoCon for the 2014 season.

  • Defeated VMI 4-0 in Lexington, Va. on Sept. 26 behind Cienna Rideout's hat trick.

  • Won both games in Greensboro in 2015 (3-1) and last year (1-0).

Scouting UNCG

  • Finished the regular season with a 12-4-1, 7-2-0 record and outscored opponents 39-14, including 24-6 in SoCon play.

  • Leads the SoCon in goals against average (0.81), goals per game (2.29) and assists per game (2.24).

  • Rideout leads the team in both goals (12) and points (29), which are the most points by a Spartan since Chesney White had 37 in 2014. After missing the opening weekend, Rideout scored in four-straight games, all game-winners. She leads the league in goals (0.80), game-winning goals (0.36) and points per game (1.93) and is third in assists per game (0.33).

  • Nicole Souply is next in scoring with six goals and 14 points, placing seventh in goals in the league.

  • Goalkeeper Aiyanah Tyler-Cooper has played all but 57 minutes this year and ranks first in the league in save percentage (.845) along with 71 saves.

Last Time Out-UNCG

  • Fell 1-0 at home to Samford Sunday, and the Bulldogs won the SoCon Regular Season Championship.

  • Goal came in the 84th minute.

  • Tyler-Cooper made four saves.

  • Rideout had a game-high four shots, and Jordin Mosley had three.

Scouting VMI

  • Defeated No. 7 seed Chattanooga 1-0 on the road Wednesday in the first round of the conference tournament. Senior forward/midfielder Amber Levy scored her first game-winning and second career goal in the 14th minute.

  • Owns a 7-8-2 overall record and went 0-8-1 in league play.

  • Ended the regular season with a tight loss to Samford (2-1) after leading in the second half and then tied Chattanooga 2-2 for its only point in the SoCon.

  • Junior defender Sierra Brewer leads the team in goals (five) and points (11). Junior forward Juilanne Knoblett is second in the team in points (nine) with three goals while sophomore forward Kiley Cropper has recorded four goals.
