LYNCHBURG, Va. - UNCG track sets a number of lifetime bests this Friday, running at the 6th Annual Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational, on the campus of Liberty University. The Spartans' participation at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex is their first on a banked track this season, and the results shone through.
The Spartans competed in just two events on the opening day of the invite, claiming multiple top-10 positions in the men's and women's 5000m races. Sophomore
Dylan Christopher crossed the finish line in sixth on the men's side, running a personal best of 14:58.96. His pace beats his previous PR by nearly 40 seconds, and ranks sixth in the Southern Conference, barring incoming results from the weekend.
Teammates
Thomas Knepshield (15:11.55) and
Cameron Belk (15:18.22) came in just a few spots back of Christopher in eighth in ninth place respectively, both of which set lifetime bests in the event.
India Godlock set her own lifetime best on the women's side, coming in 10th among the collegiate field with a time of 18:09.73. Her pace is the top mark the Spartan women have posted in the 5000m this year and would land her sixth in the SoCon among times turned in for the spring thus far.
Chandler McCaslin came in less than a second off of Godlock's finish, running an 18:10.10 in her first career 5000m. The sophomore came in just a few spots ahead of
Kathryn Anderson, who ran her own personal best time of 18:27.38.
