GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team returns home to face Furman under the lights on Saturday.
This will be the 41st meeting between these proud programs. Despite dropping the last two matchups against Furman, UNCG leads the series, 19-17-4. Furman won 1-0 in 2019 in Greenville the last time these schools played.
The Spartans (4-1-1) have a five-match unbeaten streak after opening Southern Conference competition with a draw last weekend.
Matthew Cutler's goal in the final minute helped UNCG earn an important point on the road.
UNCG has shined at home this season and will look to keep it going when it welcomes the Paladins. UNCG is 3-0 at home. The Spartans have outscored opponents, 8-2, at home this season.
Mani Austmann has scored a goal in each of UNCG's last two home contests against Elon and Longwood. All three of
Fernando Garcia's goals have been scored at home.
Furman improved to 3-1-0 overall and 1-0-0 in league play with a thrilling 2-1, double overtime triumph at ETSU last Friday night.
Jake Raine netted both goals for the Paladins, including the match-winning score in the 106th minute.
Ben Hale made several crucial saves to notch his third win in goal.
UNCG returns to action Tuesday when it visits VMI for a 3 p.m. kickoff. This is a stretch of three games in seven days for the Spartans.
