GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNCG women's tennis commemorates the careers of five Spartan seniors this Wednesday, as Sophia Adams, Eugenia Camacho, Tayah Cross, Brianna Gomez and Emily Ory compete in the final home match against visiting Mercer.
The Spartan senior class has combined for 22 match wins since the 2017-18 campaign, while fifth-year seniors Adams and Camacho have been a part of 25 since their freshman season in the spring of 2017. As a team, Spartan women's tennis was one of three UNCG programs to receive the NCAA Academic Progress Rate Public Recognition honor this past summer, while Adams and Cross both collected ITA Scholar-Athlete recognitions. Four of the Spartans' seniors being honored this Wednesday were named to the SoCon Academic Honor Roll last year, with Cross garnering the Southern Conference Commissioner's Medal.

• UNCG's 2020 season was postponed due to the COVID pandemic before its scheduled match against the Bears, last facing Mercer on St. Patrick's Day in 2019. The Bears grabbed a 5-2 victory in that meeting, with the Spartans tallying the doubles point, and current UNCG senior Emily Ory earning her team's second point in singles play
THE SPARTANS

• Brianna Gomez' 5-2 record in No. 2 singles is the third-best mark among SoCon competitors with at least two matches played in that flight, she earned SoCon Player of the Week honors at the end of March after defeating No. 77 Julia Adams of Furman
