GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer opens up a three-game homestand with a Friday night Southern Conference (SoCon) battle against Virginia Military Institute (VMI) at UNCG Soccer Stadium with a 7:00 p.m. start time.
PINK GAME
The Spartans will be sporting pink warm-up shirts prior to the game and pink socks during the game, kicking off Breast Cancer Awareness month.

ABOUT THE SPARTANS
- Senior Aiyanah Tyler-Cooper returns in net for UNCG, as she was named SoCon Defensive Player of the Week for back-to-back shutouts to open the season and then earned the honor again two weeks ago for two more clean sheets.
- Among the conference, Tyler-Cooper is ranked first in saves per game (6.90) and shutouts (5), second in saves (69), fourth in save percentage (.873), and seventh in goals against average (0.96).
- Senior Nicole Souply leads the Spartans with two goals and four points, while junior Maddy Gilhool follows with one goal and one assist for three points.
- UNCG was picked to finish fifth in the SoCon Preseason Poll.
- Senior Kayla Campbell was the lone Spartan to be named to the 2020-21 Preseason All-SoCon team. She led all defenders in 2019 with five goals, while being a force on the back line helping UNCG to six clean sheets.
SPARTANS' LAST TIME OUT
- Despite 10 saves from senior goalkeeper Aiyanah Tyler-Cooper, the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Samford University in a Southern Conference (SoCon) match, Sunday afternoon.
- The Bulldogs scored three second half goals to earn the victory.
SCOUTING VMI
- Riley Flanagan leads the Keydets with six goals and two assists for 14 points.
- In the second week of the season, Flanagan was named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week for totaling six points.
- Ella Flickinger, Lauren Fyfe, and Hannah White each have one goal on the season.
- Maria Vargas leads VMI with five helpers.
- In net, Jillian Hall has started and played in all 11 games with 22 goals against, 2.21 goals against average.
- VMI fell last in the SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll
KEYDETS' LAST TIME OUT
- Looking to bounce back from Friday's defeat to Samford, the VMI women's soccer team fell by a 2-0 score to host Chattanooga Sunday afternoon at UTC Sports Complex in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
- VMI senior Maria Vargas led the Keydets with three shots while Maggie Beckman, Riley Flanagan, Dylan Copeland and Lauren Fyfe each had one. Goalie Jillian Hall registered eight saves in the loss and faced 17 shot attempts from Chattanooga.
