SoCon Announces All-Conference Awards
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Four from UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer team were named to the Southern Conference (SoCon) All-Conference teams ahead of the quarterfinal round of the 2022 SoCon Tournament.
Senior
Gabi Santora and junior
Parker Sikora were named to the first team, while sophomore
Chloe Lausell earned second team recognition. Freshman
Emma Malone was selected to the All-SoCon freshman team.
Gabi Santora
All-SoCon first team midfielder
Senior | Midfield | Boca Raton, Florida
- Second career All-SoCon selection; named to freshman team in 2019
- Started and played in all 18 games this season
- Second on the team with 11 points
- Seven of her 11 points came in SoCon games
- Has scored three goals and five assists with two-game winning goals
Parker Sikora
All-SoCon first team defender
Junior | Defender | Elk Grove, California
- First career All-SoCon recognition
- Has started and played in all 18 games for UNCG this season
- Scored her first-collegiate goal in a 3-0 victory over VMI
- Tallied her second goal of the season in a 2-1 loss against ETSU
- She also has two assists this season, to bring her career total to three.
- As a left back, she is a key part of the back line and the Spartans' seven shutouts this season
Chloe Lausell
All-SoCon second team defender
Sophomore | Defender | Lakeland, Florida
- Second career All-SoCon selection; named to freshman team in 2021
- Started and played in 16 of the Spartans' 18 games this season as a center back
- Tallied her first-collegiate assist in a 4-0 shutout over The Citadel
- Has been a big part of the Spartans' defense earning seven shutouts this season
Emma Malone
All-SoCon freshman team goalkeeper
Freshman | Goalkeeper | Wallingford, Connecticut
- First career SoCon honor
- Played in eight games with four starts
- Has given up one goal in SoCon play for 0.31 goals against
- She has nine saves with a 0.900 save percentage in the conference
- She earned her first career shutout in a 3-0 victory over Furman and has two combined clean sheets.
The Spartans who received the No. 4 seed in the 2022 SoCon Women's Soccer Tournament, will face No. 5 Western Carolina University on Friday, October 28 at 4:00 p.m. at UTC Sports Complex in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Chattanooga Mocs earned the No. 1 seed and the right to host two quarterfinal matches and a semifinal game.
