MIAMI, FLA. – Junior
Blayke Batten has now homered in three-straight games for the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team, as it split two games with Maryland on Saturday.
The Spartans took game one in 10 innings coming from behind for a 6-5 win, while the Terrapins edged UNCG in game two with a score of 5-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UNCG tallied four hits through four innings, as Maryland had none until the bottom of the fourth.
- The Terrapins scored their first run with no outs from Schlotter's RBI single through the right side to take a 1-0 edge.
- With two outs and the bases loaded, Maryland scored its second run on a wild pitch and then a third run on a walk to take a 3-0 lead.
- In the top of the sixth, the Spartans saw a one-out double to right field from Maycin Brown and Blayke Batten homered to left field to cut the deficit to one, 3-2.
- In the leadoff spot, Brooklynn Maxwell doubled down the left field line in the top of the seventh.
- Hannah Kincer then put out the Spartans' second home run on the day to tie the game at four.
- UNCG saw its first lead, 5-4, from a sacrifice fly from Jessie Shipley in the top of the eighth, scoring Makenna Matthijs.
- Maryland then responded as Schlotter scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the frame to tie the game at five.
- In the top of the 10th inning, Batten would connect for the eventual game-winning hit, sending the ball to left field with two outs to give UNCG its second advantage, 6-5.
- The Spartans fended off the Terps, as Morgan Scott retired the side with Maryland stranding two on base.
NOTES
- Kincer tallied her 17th-career home run and first of the season.
- Batten recorded her fourth-career home run and second of the season.
- Three Spartans had a multi-hit game, including Brown (3-for-5), Batten (2-for-4), and Jordan Gontram (2-for-4).
- This was the Spartans' first victory over the Terrapins in program history.
- UNCG is now 1-2 over Maryland.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Freshman pitcher Reese Byrd held the Terps hitless through three innings.
- UNCG put a run up on the board first in the top of the fifth.
- Makenna Matthijs led the inning off with a single, followed by Maycin Brown's double to left.
- On Batten's fly out, Matthijs scored on an error for a 1-0 lead.
- In the bottom of the frame, Maryland responded with a bases-loaded single from Goff to tie the game at one. Mikami followed with a sacrifice fly to left to score Greico, giving the Terps a 2-1 lead.
- Brooklynn Maxwell singled up the middle to lead off the sixth, as Hannah Kincer doubled to put runners in scoring position.
- Tori Dalehite sent a fly ball out to center field, bringing home Maxwell to tie the game at two.
- Maryland broke the game open, 5-2, with three runs on two hits and three errors in the bottom of the sixth.
- With one out, Batten drove out her second long ball on the day putting the Spartans within two, 5-3, but following Jessie Shipley's double, the Terps retired the side to hold on for the win.

- Batten recorded her fifth-career home run and third of the season in as many games.
- Three Spartans had a multi-hit game, including Makenna Matthijs (2-for-4), Brooklynn Maxwell (2-for-4), and Hannah Kincer (2-for-3).
- Maycin Brown, Jessie Shipley, and Kincer each hit a double.
- This was the second-straight game that UNCG has recorded 10 hits.
- Maryland leads the series 3-1 over UNCG.
