UNCG Records Eighth-Straight Game with a Home Run in 4-3 Loss to NC State

RALEIGH, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team dropped a non-conference game to NC State, 4-3, on Tuesday afternoon at Dali Softball Stadium.

Each inning of the game was as intense as the next as both teams battled pitch-for-pitch, out-for-out, and hit-for-hit.

This was the Spartans' eighth-straight game hitting at least one home run and sixth game of the season with two or more home runs.

  • The Spartans had their first of two one-two-three innings in the bottom of the second including two of Morgan Scott's six strikeouts on the day.
  • UNCG's defense remained tight through the third with a line out to Maycin Brown who turned a double play by throwing the runner out at first.
  • NC State tied the game at three in the bottom of the fourth on a two-out single from Michele Tarpey.

From Shipley on her home run and the result of the game
"It was an awesome feeling. Even though we came up short, it felt awesome to be able to produce for us. We fought well today; we were just unable to come up with the win. It was a tough loss for sure, but we'll keep our heads up as we look forward to this weekend."
