GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team extended its home streak to five with a 4-1 victory over Loyola Chicago Friday afternoon to start off the UNCG Invitational.
This is UNCG's ninth-straight game with at least one home run.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UNCG put at least one runner on each inning, as Grace Loftin put the first hit on the board in the bottom of the second with a single up the middle.
- After stranding two in the bottom of the fourth, the Spartans put up the first two runs for a 2-0 lead.
- Delaney Cumbie walked to lead off the fifth and on her second pitch, Maycin Brown drove the ball over the center field wall for a one-out blast.
- The Ramblers cut the deficit to 2-1 after Jacobsen doubled to left field and Remsik stole third after pinch running. Remsik scored on Sopczak's fielder's choice to second.
- The Spartans extended their lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the sixth, as Brooklynn Maxwell dropped a sacrifice bunt to move runners into scoring position.
- Hannah Kincer scored on a sacrifice fly for a 3-1 advantage and Makenna Matthijs drove in the fourth run on a RBI single.
NOTES
- Brown tallied her second home run of the season.
- The Spartans' five hits were spread amongst the lineup: Delaney Cumbie, Makenna Matthijs, Brown, Jessie Shipley, and Grace Loftin
- Brown, Matthijs, and Cumbie earned one RBI each.
- Scott matched her season best of seven strikeouts
- UNCG takes the advantage all-time over the Loyola Chicago 2-1.
