KNOXVILLE, TENN. – UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball senior
Delaney Cumbie's two-run home run in the top of the sixth was the eventual game-winning hit in a 3-1 victory over East Carolina Sunday morning at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.
Cumbie initially doubled to right field to tie the game at one in the top of the third bringing home
Blayke Batten.
She then cranked her 12
th homer of the season to left field hitting the scoreboard for a 3-1 advantage.
Makenna Matthijs was on base to score.
This brought UNCG's season total to 88 home runs.
Morgan Scott, in her 22
nd complete game this season, earned her 20
th win of the year and 48
th of her career.
Scott struck out nine with the victory, allowing just three hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pirates put runners on first and second with one out in the bottom of the first.
- Faith Jarvis stole third and with two outs, East Carolina took the benefit of their runners to advance them both for a 1-0 lead.
- The Pirates only saw hits in the third and sixth, following their lead, as Scott kept them off balance.
- The Spartans had two double plays in the win.
- One occurred in the bottom of the fourth on a ground out and the other was a fly out in the bottom of the seventh.
NOTES
- The Spartans have hit at least one home run in 39 games this season.
- Matthijs, Cumbie, and Samantha Lagrama each had two hits.
- Brooklynn Maxwell doubled to center field in the top of the sixth.
