HIGH POINT, N.C. – Hogan Windish had three doubles and extended his hitting streak to seven games as the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team rolled to a 17-6 victory over High Point in a non-conference contest at Willard Stadium Wednesday evening.
This was the second straight game in which UNCG scored 17 runs.
Windish entered the contest with a .421 batting average, which is 21st nationally. He raised his average to .438 following his 12th career game with at least three hits.
Mitchell Smith added three hits to fuel UNCG's 14-hit attack.
Kennedy Jones and
Dallas Callahan also enjoyed multi-hit games for the Spartans, which avenged an earlier loss to High Point on March 22 in Greensboro.
Windish's first two doubles produced RBI's in the first and third innings. Smith followed Windish with RBI singles in the same innings, helping UNCG build an early eight-run advantage.
UNCG finished the game with an impressive eight-run ninth inning highlighted by
Pres Cavenaugh's three-run homer. That transformed a slim 9-5 advantage into a comfortable lead for the Spartans.
