GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team opens the regular season with a four-game homestand.
 
In the Spartans' first game of the season, they welcome UNC Asheville to UNCG Soccer Stadium. On Sunday, UNC Wilmington travels to Greensboro with a 7:00 p.m. start.
 
UNCG SOCCER STADIUM INFORMATION
Gate entry: 
Fans should enter at the main gate into the soccer stadium located off of West Drive below the tennis courts. Gates are open to fans one hour prior to the start of the match.
 
Parking:
Parking is free in the Walker Deck one hour prior to the start of the match. Fans parking in the Walker Deck should follow West Drive down to the main entrance of the soccer stadium.
 
Food and Beverages:
No outside food and drink are permitted in the soccer stadium. A sealed water bottle is permitted. A variety of food and drinks will be sold at the concessions stand on the soccer concourse. Concessions are CASHLESS - payment options include Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
 
SPARTANS VS. HOME OPENERS
UNCG looks to win its first home opener since August 30, 2019, when the Spartans defeated George Washington 2-0.

UNCG earned a No. 29 rankings from College Soccer News during the release of the Preseason Poll.

UNCG was voted to take the title in the Southern Conference (SoCon) Preseason Coaches Poll after winning the 2021 Regular Season Title.

RETURNERS
  • Sophomore J.C. Ngando returns for the Spartans and was second on the team with five goals and eight assists.
  • Maycol Reyes finished the 2021 season with two goals and two assists, while Jack Birch had two goals and one assist.
  • Defenders Marco Milanese and Emmanuel Hagan will be key parts of the Spartans backline as they chipped in five and four points, respectively.

  • UNCG has three goalkeepers on the roster this season
  • In net, the Spartans will see 2021 SoCon Goalkeeper of the Year Niclas Wild return with his 0.80 goals against average and 0.720 save percentage.
SCOUTING UNC ASHEVILLE
  • UNC Asheville brought in 17 new players in the offseason.
  • Conor Behan and Jake Kemhadijian return for the Bulldogs.
  • Behan was the leading point scorer with seven (two goals, three assists), while Kemhadijian paced the team with four assists and a goal.
  • The Bulldogs were picked to finish ninth in the Big South Preseason Poll.

  • UNCG defeated UNC Asheville 5-1 on September 18, 2019 in Asheville.
