GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer team defeated Chattanooga 2-1, on Sunday afternoon, at the UNCG Soccer Stadium in The Southern Conference (SoCon) play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After the Mocs had possession for most of the first half, the Spartans quickly turned the page taking four shots in the last 15 minutes.
UNCG picked up the intensity going into the second frame when in the 47
th minute,
Hailey Faubion dribbled the ball up the right flank to find the foot of
Caroline Woods. From the 18-yard box Woods, touched it one before striking it to the right upper 90 of the net to put the Spartans up 1-0.
Six minutes later, the Mocs looked to clear the Spartans' attack, but Woods was in the right place at the right time. She intercepted the clear attempt, dribbled around a defender, and sent a long ball to the lower left corner of the net to extend the Spartans' lead, to 2-0.
In the 71
st minute, a defensive miscue by the Spartans in the Moc's attacking third led to Kennedy Heavrin collecting the loose ball and cutting the deficit to one, 2-1.
