GREENSBORO, N.C. –  The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's and women's track teams return to competition with the Mondo College Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 18, at the JDL Fast Track.

This will be their first meet back from break. Track events will begin at 9:15 a.m. and field will start at 9:30 a.m.

MEET/FACILITY HISTORY:
  • Last year, UNCG competed at the JDL Fast Track six times during the indoor season.
  • This year, the Spartans will compete at the JDL Fast Track four times.

Admission to the JDL Fast Track is $8 for adults and $5 for students 13 and older. Children under 12 are free.

LAST TIME OUT
  • UNCG opened the indoor season at Visit Winston-Salem College Kick Off and JDL Early Bird Invitational in December at the JDL Fast Track.
  • Junior Evan Pena and senior Colin Keck both earned top-10 finishes in the 3000-meter run during the Visit Winston-Salem College Kick Off.
  • Six Spartans clocked in personal best times at the JDL Early Bird Invitational, including four on the men's side and two on the women's side.
  • Samuel Barnard's personal best time of 2:32.17 in the 1000-meter run was the top time at the meet which now puts him second on UNCG's all-time marks.
  • Freshman Brodie Schneider took home second place in the 1000-meter run with his time of 2:32.28, which is now third in UNCG history.
  • On the women's side, all five Spartans that ran in the 3000-meter event finished in the top 10 out of 20 competitors. Senior Camille Carlson finished third overall with her time of 10:58.74. Sophomore Tenley Douglass followed in fourth place with a time of 11:00.12. 
CROSS COUNTRY SEASON
  • The men saw their best mark at The 2024 Southern Conference (SoCon) Cross Country Championships where the squad placed third overall.
  • This was the men's best mark since the 2012* season when UNCG was crowned champion. This is the fifth* time in program history that UNCG has finished third or better. (NOTE: *The 2011 SoCon Championship was later vacated)
  • Keck led the charge for the Blue & Gold, finishing 12th out of 80 competitors with a time of 25:10.5 in the eight-kilometer race and earned his first-career All-Conference Second Team award.
  • The men went on to compete at the 2024 NCAA Division I Southeast Regionals and placed 22nd out of 33 teams. The Spartans were the second SoCon team in the final team standings, behind Furman who took home sixth.
  • Keck once again paced the Spartans and finished in 111th place out of 240 competitors, clocking in a time of 32:34.2 in the 10-kilometer race.
  • The women placed seventh at the SoCon Championships with Sosa finishing in the top-25, for a career-best place at the Championships. The junior finished 22nd overall with a time of 17:59.1, breaking 18 minutes for the first time in her collegiate career.
  • The women placed fourth overall at the Phoenix Invitational, hosted by Elon, which was their best mark this season.
UP NEXT
The men and women will take some time off before traveling to Lynchburg, Virginia, to compete in the Liberty Open from Feb. 7-8 at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex.
