SoCon Announces Volleyball Players of the Week
 
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Freshman middle blocker Connore' Siler-Nixon of the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) volleyball team has been named The Southern Conference (SoCon) Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the league office Monday.

Siler-Nixon stood out for the Spartans offensively this week with 26 kills and earned a .447 hitting percentage in eight sets played. The Odessa, Florida, native added 8.0 total blocks on the week and averaged 3.25 kills per set.

"I am so excited to receive my first SoCon Offensive Player of the Week award," said Siler-Nixon. "I hope the team and I can build momentum for this weekend as we have two tough matches. I'm excited to get back on the court with this amazing group to be able to show people how far we have come this season. This is just a start for me and this amazing group of girls!"

Siler-Nixon's recognition is the first conference award of her career and fourth SoCon Player of the Week award for the Spartans this season. Allie Sweet was named SoCon Offensive Player of the Week twice (Sept. 1 & Sept. 15) and Chloe Nussbaum earned SoCon Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 1.

The last time UNCG earned four weekly SoCon weekly awards in a season was in 2021 as the Spartans collected nine that year.

The Spartans return to Fleming Gym to host The Citadel on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and Mercer on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
