CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's cross country team finished in 22
nd place out of 33 teams at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Southeast Regional Championships on Friday at Panorama Farms, hosted by Virginia. This matched the Spartans' result from 2024.
Wake Forest won the team title with 55 points, with Rocky Hansen from the Demon Deacons taking the individual title with a time of 29:10.4. Eastern Kentucky was the team runner-up with 68 points and Virginia rounded out the top-three teams with 95 points.
The Southern Conference (SoCon) foe Furman finished seventh overall with 185 points, while Western Carolina had two individuals compete, placing 174th and 175th overall.
Junior
Khalid Abdullahi, in his first NCAA Regional, placed 113th out of 240 competitors in the 10-kilometer race. Abdullahi clocked in a time of 32:13.4.
SoCon Freshman of the Year,
Luke Hühn, finished a few places after Abdullahi in 118th with a time of 32:20.5 in his first-collegiate 10-kilometer run.
Sophomore
Logan Ruffner, who competed in his second NCAA Regional, placed 142nd, besting his 163rd-place mark from 2024. Ruffner clocked in a time of 32:52.4. Classmate
Pierson Guerrant competed in his first NCAA Regional and took home 181st place with a time of 33:46.8.
Graduate student,
Jay Guy, finished the race in 34:59.7, placing 219th overall.

UP NEXT
- The top two teams out of each of the nine regional meets qualify automatically for the NCAA Division I Championships, which will take place in Columbia, Missouri on Saturday, Nov. 22.
- On Saturday, Nov. 15, the NCAA Cross Country Selection Committee will announce 14 at-large selections via a selection show at 5 p.m. ET.
- Thirty-eight individuals will be selected to participate in each championship through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process.
- The first four regional finishers not from an automatic qualifying or at-large team also secure an auto-bid to the championships.
