Men’s Soccer Rematches Elon in First Round of NCAA Tournament

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team enters the First Round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament for the 11th time in program history to host Triad rival Elon at UNCG Soccer Stadium on Thursday at 5:00 p.m.

SERIES VS. ELON  

The Spartans are leading the series 14-8-4 with the last matchup between the two resulting in a scoreless draw at Rudd Field in Elon, North Carolina, on Sept. 30, 2025.   
  
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE SPARTANS  

 
UNCG fell to Furman in The Southern Conference (SoCon) Championship in double overtime, 0-1, in Greenville, South Carolina on Nov.15.  
  
SPARTANS IN NCAA TOURNAMENT  

  • This is UNCG's 11th bid into the DI tournament with the last time being in 2022. 

  • In program history, this is the 20th appearance in NCAA play with UNCG owning five DIII championships in 1982, 1983, 1985, 1986 and 1987.  

  • The last time the Spartans hosted an NCAA Tournament match was in 2022, when UNCG hosted Ohio State in the second round and then No. 13 Indiana in the Elite Eight. 

  • This is the third time in UNCG's Division I history that it is an at-large selection, with the two previous being 1998 and 2004. 

  • The Blue & Gold holds an 8-9-3 record in NCAA Division I Tournament play.  

ABOUT THE SPARTANS  

  • UNCG ranks 26th in RPI and 18th in the United Soccer Coaches' Poll at the end of the season.     

  • • The Spartans boast the second most All-SoCon players in the league with nine honorees, announced on Nov. 6. 

  • Enzo Dovlo is second on the Spartans in goals with 10 and first in assists with eight for a team leading 28 points.  

  • Arnaud Tattevin is leading the team and is tenth in the nation in goals with 12, while also having two assists on the season. During the SoCon Tournament, he scored four goals in three games played and was named to the All-Tournament team.   

  • This is the first time since 2006 where two Spartans have had 10 plus goals in a season.   

  • UNCG boasts the 14th best goal differential in the nation at plus 14. 

  •  The trio of Dovlo, Tattevin and Hernandez have scored 28 out of the 43 goals this season.   

  •  The Spartans boast one of the best offenses in the nation and are ranked sixth in total goals (43), 12th in scoring offense (2.15), 12th in total points (123), 23rd in points per game (6.15) and 30th in total assists (37).   

  • The squad boasts 11 returners from last season and nine seniors.          

SCOUTING ELON 

  • The Phoenix ended the regular season 71st in RPI and were unranked in the United Coaches Soccer poll.  

  • • Elon defeated Stony Brook,3-0, on Nov. 15 in the Coastal Athletic Association Championship (CAA) to secure its first CAA Title in program history. 

  • This is the sixth all-time NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. 

  • The Phoenix boasted a 7-0-3 home record this season but were 2-3-3 in away matches.  

  • Elon is one of the premier defensive units in the nation, tied for third in the nation in shutout percentage (.611), sixth in team goals against average (.611) and eighth in the nation in save percentage (.833).  

  • Goalkeeper Jackson Leavitt is one of the best keepers in the nation with a save percentage of  .828, which is the tenth best in the nation and was named to the First Team All-CAA.  

  • Elon is led offensively by Matthew Kozak who has scored five goals with eight assists this season.  

  • The Phoenix have been hot in the postseason, scoring nine goals in the last two games played.
