GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's basketball team will head East down I-40 Wednesday as they take on the Eagles of North Carolina Central University (NCCU) at 11:00 a.m. at McDougald-McLendon Arena in Durham, North Carolina.
UNCG is 8-1 in the all-time series against NCCU with the series dating back to the 1988-89 season. The Spartans claimed the most recent matchup on Dec. 14, 2023, 66-55, in Greensboro.

FLEMING GYMNASIUM RENAMED BODFORD ARENA
- On Saturday, Nov. 8, Fleming Gymnasium, home to UNCG volleyball, women's basketball and men's basketball was renamed to Bodford Arena.
- This historic moment for the department was made possible through a transformational $2 million gift from the Bodford family.
- This generous support represents the largest unrestricted gift in the history of UNCG Athletics, as well as the first associated with naming a competitive athletic facility.
- The University is already familiar with the Bodford name - the Bodford Family Speed, Strength & Conditioning Center was dedicated in October 2020.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE SPARTANS
- UNCG went 1-1 last week after earning its home opening win over Gardner-Webb, 54-52 Friday night, but falling to No. 14 North Carolina, 94-48, in Chapel Hill on Sunday.
- Against the Runnin' Bulldogs Jaila Lee led the game with a season-high 17 points, matching her career-best.
- Rylan Moffitt registered her fourth career double-double and first of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
- At No. 14 North Carolina, Jeni Levine led all scorers with a new season-high of 21 points.
- Tasia Johnson chipped in a season-high eight points and led the team with three assists.
ABOUT THE SPARTANS
- UNCG was voted to finish second with two first-place votes in The Southern Conference (SoCon) Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- Lee and Asidanya were selected to the SoCon Preseason All-Conference Team after both of their stellar performances last season.
- The reigning SoCon Coach of the Year, Head Coach Trina Patterson is in her 10th year with the Blue & Gold this season.
- The 2025-26 roster features five returners and eight newcomers. Four of the newcomers are freshmen, while the other four are transfer students.
- Asidanya's career-best 22 points at Auburn this season led her to be named SoCon Player of the Week in the first round of weekly awards on Nov. 11.
- UNCG is currently second in the SoCon with a 6.7 three-pointers per game average.
- Levine paces the league with 48 field goal attempts this season.
- Asidanya is second in the conference shooting 38.5 percent from behind the arc. She leads the team with 15 three-pointers this season and nine steals.
- Asidanya (14.0) and Levine (13.8) are both leading the Spartans in double-figure scoring.
- Moffitt paces the team in the post, averaging six rebounds per game and three blocks on the season.
- Johnson and Lee lead the squad with 12 dimes apiece.
- UNCG comes into the 2025-26 season after a historic 2024-25 campaign.
- The Spartans earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament last season for the first time since 1998. The team defeated Chattanooga, 64-57, in The 2025 SoCon Championship, earning an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
- The team fell to No. 1 USC in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, California.
SCOUTING NCCU
- The Eagles come into Wednesday's matchup 1-5 overall on the 2025-26 campaign.
- The team most recently dropped its contest at Old Dominion on Sunday, 85-48.
- Tierney Coleman scored 11 points off the bench including two three-pointers for the Eagles.
- Aniya Finger added seven points and eight rebounds in the game.
- NCCU is leading the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) with 22.67 free throw attempts per game and is second in the league in defensive rebounds per game (25.2) and rebounds per game (38.00).
- Najah Lane paces the MEAC with 27 assists, averaging 4.5 per game.
- Aysia Hinton is leading the conference from behind the arc with 14 three-pointers, averaging 2.33 a game.
- Morgan Callahan is pacing the league and 40th nationally with two double-doubles this season. She is second in the MEAC with a 7.7 boards per game average.
- Callahan was named the MEAC Women's Basketball Preseason Player of the Year and to the Preseason All-MEAC First Team ahead of the 2025-26 season.
- Shakiria Foster was named to the Preseason All-MEAC Second Team, while Finger and Hinton were selected to the Third Team.
- The Eagles were picked to finish fourth with one first-place vote in the 2025-26 MEAC Women's Basketball Preseason Predicted Order of Finish.
- Head Coach Terrance Baxter is in his third season at the helm of the NCCU women's basketball program. He served as the head coach for the Catawba women's basketball team for two seasons prior to joining the Eagles.
