McIntyre Breaks School Record, Track Competes at JDL Fast Track

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's and women's track teams began the season at the Visit Winston-Salem College Kick-Off on Saturday at the JDL Fast Track.

The women saw freshman Maddison McIntyre break the 400-meter school record, while four Spartans recorded personal bests and eight made their collegiate debuts.

On the men's side, there were five personal bests and five debuts.

McIntyre clocked in a time of 1:00.38 in the 400-meter run, placing 10th out of 36 competitors. The freshman now sits atop the 400-meter UNCG records, breaking Reagan O'Quinn's mark of 1:00.83 from Jan. 21, 2023. Both her and Lily Butler debuted in the event and Butler finished 18th overall with a time of 1:02.68.

In Sarah Fassinger's collegiate debut, she clocked in a time of 2:22.01 in the 800-meter run. The freshman earned a top-10 mark, finishing ninth out of 41 competitors.

In the men's 3000-meter run, five of the eight Spartans placed in the top 10 with junior Khalid Abdullahi taking home the title with a personal best time of 8:24.02. His time now sits fifth on the UNCG indoor performance list. Luke Hühn made his collegiate indoor track debut, finishing third out of 48 competitors, clocking in a time of 8:27.14.

Pierson Guerrant followed the freshman, finishing in fourth place with a personal best time of 8:33.79. Lane Prochaska and Logan Ruffner rounded out the Spartans in the top 10, both recording personal bests. Prochaska clocked in a time of 8:41.58, good for ninth, while Ruffner finished in 10th with a time of 8:43.82.

Samuel Barnard clocked in a time of 4:19.52 in the mile, finishing 10th out of 48 competitors.

Jeremiah Jones, in his collegiate debut, finished eighth out of 39 competitors in the 800-meter run, clocking in a time of 1:58.50.

UP NEXT
The men and women will take some time off before starting 2026 with the Mondo College Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 17 at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
