Women’s Basketball to Conclude Home Slate with Wofford & Furman

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's basketball team will conclude its 2025-26 home slate this week by hosting Wofford on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and Furman on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. inside Bodford Arena.

Saturday's game against the Paladins will be a part of a doubleheader with UNCG men's basketball taking on Wofford at 5:00 p.m. Fans who attend the women's game (who do not already have a ticket to the men's game) are able to stay for the men's game but must relocate to the back of section five in Bodford Arena upon conclusion of the 2:00 p.m. game. If fans have a men's ticket, you are allowed to enter the women's game.

In addition, prior to Saturday's game against Furman, Jeni Levine, Tasia Johnson, Jaila Lee, Rylan Moffitt and Mia Simpson will all be recognized in a special Senior Day ceremony for their hard work and dedication to the UNCG women's basketball program.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE SPARTANS
  • UNCG dropped both its road contests last week, falling at Mercer on Thursday, 67-58, and most recently at Samford on Saturday, 68-64.
  • Levine was the leading scorer at Mercer after her 15 points all came in the final 12 minutes of the game.
  • Makiah Asidanya chipped in 10 points to add to the Spartans double-figure scoring.
  • Moffitt paced the game with eight boards.  
  • Against the Bulldogs, Simpson led the Spartans with a season-best 16 points.
  • Lee followed closely behind with 15 points, while Levine added 12 points to round out the Spartans in double-figures.
  •  Leyla Minor paced the Spartans with six boards, while Levine added five.
ABOUT THE SPARTANS
  • UNCG comes into the week with a 13-11 overall record and 3-6 mark in The Southern Conference (SoCon), sitting in a tie for sixth place with Samford in the conference standings.
  • UNCG is leading the SoCon in five statistical categories: assist/turnover ratio (0.93), assists per game (13.8), scoring defense (55.3), scoring margin (10.0) and turnover margin (3.79).
  • The Blue & Gold are second in the league in offensive rebounds per game (13.0), three-point attempts per game (23.6) and three-pointers per game (7.6).
  • The Spartans' 55.3 scoring defense is 11th in the country.
  • Levine paces the SoCon in total points this season with 358 and is second in the league with 317 total field goal attempts this season.
  • Asidanya leads the conference with a 37.2 three-point percentage.
  • Lee is second in the SoCon at the charity stripe with a 91.2 percentage.
  • Levine (14.9) and Asidanya (10.7) are pacing the Spartans in double-figure scoring this season.
  • UNCG is leading its opponents in several statistical categories: points (65.3-55.3), field goals (23.5-19.6), three-pointers (7.6-5.3), rebounding (36.8-33.5), assists (13.8-9.9), assist/turnover ratio (0.9-0.5), points off turnovers (18.2-11.9) and steals (9.5-7.4).
  • Asidanya (Nov. 11) and Lee (Jan. 13) have both picked up SoCon Player of the Week accolades for the 2025-26 season.
  • UNCG was voted to finish second with two first-place votes in the SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll.
  • Lee and Asidanya were selected to the SoCon Preseason All-Conference Team after both of their stellar performances last season.
  • The reigning SoCon Coach of the Year, Head Coach Trina Patterson is in her 10th year with the Blue & Gold this season.
  • The 2025-26 roster features five returners and eight newcomers. Four of the newcomers are freshmen, while the other four are transfer students.
  • UNCG comes into the 2025-26 season after a historic 2024-25 campaign.
  • The Spartans earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament last season for the first time since 1998. The team defeated Chattanooga, 64-57, in The 2025 SoCon Championship, earning an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
  • The team fell to No. 1 USC in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, California.
 SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
  • Wofford comes to Greensboro with a 12-11 overall record and 6-3 SoCon mark, currently tied with Furman for second in the conference standings.
  • The Terriers most recently snapped their two-game losing streak by giving first-place Chattanooga its first conference loss this season, 67-63.
  • The reigning SoCon Player of the Week, Gabby Mundy, recorded a career-best 32 points in the win over the Mocs.
  • Wofford is leading the SoCon in free throw percentage (76.9), defensive rebounds per game (28.2) and three-point percentage defense (26.9).
  • The team is second in the league in assist/turnover ratio (0.91), field goal percentage (40.3), fouls per game (15.0), rebounds per game (40.30) and scoring offense (67.9).
  • Mundy is pacing the SoCon in assist/turnover ratio (1.49), field goal attempts (325) and points per game (15.3). She is second in assists (91) and points (352).
  • Maddie Heiss leads the conference with a 94.4 free throw percentage.
  • Queen Ikhiuwu is second in the SoCon with a 49.1 field goal percentage.
  • Wofford was picked to finish fourth in the SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll.
  • Molly Masingale was named to the 2025-26 Preseason All-SoCon Team.
  • Head Coach Jimmy Garrity is in his 10th season with the Wofford Terriers and has led the squad to a 152-138 overall mark.
  • Wofford wrapped up the 2024-25 season 17-12 overall and 8-6 in the SoCon.
SERIES HISTORY VS THE TERRIERS
The Spartans are 43-23 overall against the Terriers. Wofford claimed the close meeting in Spartanburg, South Carolina, earlier this season, 61-59, on Saturday, Jan. 17.

 SCOUTING THE PALADINS
  • Furman comes into the week with a 14-10 overall record and 6-3 SoCon mark, tied for second with Wofford the conference standings.
  • The Paladins ended a five-game winning streak after dropping both their home matches last week, falling to Chattanooga, 62-54 and ETSU, 58-55.
  • Furman is pacing the SoCon in blocks per game (4.1), free throw attempts per game (21.17), offensive rebounds per game (15.3), rebounds per game (40.67), scoring offense (69.0), steals per game (12.2) and turnovers forced per game (17.9).
  • The squad is second in the league in assists per game (13.5), bench points per game (21.8), rebound margin (4.1), scoring margin (7.5) and turnover margin (3.58).
  • Clare Coyle is leading the SoCon in seven categories: double-doubles (9), field goal percentage (53.1), field goals (144), rebounds (220), rebounds per game (9.2), steals (52) and steals per game (2.17).
  • Chantelle Stuart is second in the conference with a 4.5 assists per game average.
  • Raina McGowens is second in the league with 82 total free throws made this season.
  • Furman was picked to finish fifth in the SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll ahead of the 2025-26 season.
  • Coyle was selected to the 2025-26 Preseason All-SoCon Team.
  • Head Coach Pierre Curtis is in his third season at the helm of the Furman women's basketball team and has led the squad to a 45-42 overall mark.
  • Furman concluded the 2024-25 season 16-16 overall and 5-9 in the SoCon, falling to Chattanooga, 63-55, in the First Round of the 2025 SoCon Tournament.
  • The Paladins will face Western Carolina on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 6:00 p.m. in Cullowhee, North Carolina, before coming to Greensboro on Saturday.
SERIES HISTORY VS THE PALADINS
UNCG leads the overall series against Furman at 36-29. The Paladins took the first meeting with the Spartans this season in Greenville, South Carolina, 69-56, on Thursday, Jan. 15.

FLEMING GYMNASIUM RENAMED BODFORD ARENA
  • On Saturday, Nov. 8, Fleming Gymnasium, home to UNCG volleyball, women's basketball and men's basketball was renamed to Bodford Arena.
  • This historic moment for the department was made possible through a transformational $2 million gift from the Bodford family.
  • This generous support represents the largest unrestricted gift in the history of UNCG Athletics, as well as the first associated with naming a competitive athletic facility.  
  • The University is already familiar with the Bodford name - the Bodford Family Speed, Strength & Conditioning Center was dedicated in October 2020.

The Spartans will continue SoCon play next week, traveling west to face ETSU on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 7:00 p.m. in Johnson City, Tennessee. UNCG will then head to Chattanooga to take on the Mocs on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 2:00 p.m. in McKenzie Arena.
