WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's and women's track teams competed in the ASICS Sound Invite on Saturday hosted at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Emery Anderson,
Alana Hill and
Ayzia Jefferson broke school records, while a total of seventeen Spartans clocked in personal best times.
Men's Results:
Anderson rebroke his school record time in the 400-meter seeded race, running a 49.71 to finish fourth out of 14. He improved on his previous school record time of 50.92, set on Jan. 30 at the Tryon College Banked Invitational.
Aaron Cobb finished 23
rd out of 38 competitors in the 200-meter run clocking in a personal best time of 23.63, which is now third in UNCG records.
Both
Jeremiah Jones (2
nd/1:54.59) and
Glodi Mvovi (3
rd/1:55.26) ran personal best marks in the 800-meter run. Their times are now sixth and eighth, respectively, in UNCG records.
In the mile,
Khalid Abdullahi finished in the top 10 out of 42 competitors (9
th/4:13.92).
Logan Ruffner's personal best time of 4:15.41 is now fifth in UNCG records.
All six Spartans that competed in the 3000-meter run ran personal best times.
Luke Hühn led the way with his fifth-place finish out of 32 competitors with a time of 8:19.13, which is now fourth in UNCG marks. Abdullahi who double-backed at the meet, finished seventh overall with a time of 8:22.19.
Luke Ward (8
th/8:22.73) and
Pierson Guerrant (10
th/8:25.67) rounded out the top-10 performances for the Spartans and they are now seventh and eighth, respectively, in UNCG records.
Women's Results:
Jefferson clocked in a time of 25.54 in the 200-meter run, taking home 11
th out of 13 competitors. She has now broken the 200-meter school record three times, twice improving on her own record this year.
Hill ran a time of 58.77 in the 400-meter event, which placed her fourth out of 12 competitors. The freshman also improved on her school record time of 59.78, set on Jan. 23 at the Liberty Invite. Senior
Chelsea Valdivia-Rizo's 400-meter time of 1:02.50, which placed her seventh in the event, is now fourth all time in the UNCG records.
Four out of the five Spartans that competed in the 3000-meter run for the women, clocked in personal best times.
Vicky Sosa led the way with a time of 10:16.74, finishing fifth out of 20 competitors.
Hailey Meyers (7
th/10:19.57),
Tenley Douglass (9
th/10:22.63),
Camryn Oates (14
th/10:31.28) and
Sierra Collins (16
th/10:32.50) all ran personal best times. Meyers and Douglass are now sitting ninth and 10
th, respectively in UNCG records.
Joelle Tonne's mile time of 5:06.86 ranked fourth out of 26 competitors, and she now sits ninth in UNCG records.
