Three Records Broken, Track Impresses at ASICS Last Chance Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's and women's track teams competed in the ASICS Last Chance Invitational to conclude the indoor regular season on Saturday.  
 
Ayzia Jefferson rebroke the 200-meter school record for the third time this season, while Emery Anderson rebroke the 200-meter record for the second time. Alana Hill broke the 60-meter sprint school record that stood from 2018 with a time of 8.00 by Nautica Friday.

Three Spartans from the men's squad recorded personal best times, while there were 10 from the women's team that posted personal bests.
 
Men's Results:
Anderson rebroke his school record time in the 200-meter seeded race for the second time. He clocked in a personal best time of 22.29, finishing 10th out of 21 competitors.
 
Glodi Mvovi ran a personal best time of 51.38 in the 400-meter run. This placed him second out of 16 competitors and his time is now second in the UNCG record books.
 
Lane Prochaska was the final Spartan on the men's side to clock in a personal best time. He ran a time of 1:58.21 in the 800-meter run, finishing 12th overall. Samuel Barnard led the Blue & Gold in the 800-meter run with his time of 1:55.80, taking home fifth place, while Logan Ruffner also finished with a top-10 time of 1:57.44, placing ninth out of 30 competitors.
 
In the 4x400 meter relay, Mvovi, Jeremiah Jones, Barnard and Donovan Johnson ran a time of 3:25.15. Their time is now second in the UNCG school records.
 
Women's Results:
Jefferson clocked in a time of 25.54 in the 200-meter run, taking home 11th out of 13 competitors. She has now broken the 200-meter school record three times, twice improving on her own record this year.
 
 
In the preliminary round of the 60-meter sprint, Hill broke the UNCG school record with her time of 7.99. She ended up fifth overall in the finals with her time of 8.01. Jefferson ran a time of 8.05 in the preliminary round and then clocked in a time of 8.01, placing sixth overall.
 
Jefferson clocked in a time of 25.36 in the 200-meter run, taking home fourth out of 18 competitors. She has now broken the 200-meter school record four times, three times improving on her own record this year. Hill wasn't far behind as she crossed the finish line with a personal best time of 25.77, placing sixth overall.
 
All four Spartans that ran in the mile, clocked in personal best times, including Vicky Sosa (22nd/5:08.75), who led the way. Tenley Douglass (24th/5:18.01), Hailey Meyers (26th/5:19.07) and Camryn Oates (28th/5:26.33) also clocked in personal best times in the event.
 
The quartet of Chelsea Valdivia-Rizo, Lily Butler, Peyton Wilson and Joelle Tonne ran a time of 4:11.33 in the 4x400 meter relay. Their time is now second in UNCG school records.
 
Both Erica Rash (10th/10:57.62) and Kaitlyn Harrison (15th/11:16.08) clocked in personal best times in the 3000-meter event.

The Spartans will begin postseason competition with The Southern Conference (SoCon) Indoor Track & Field Championships in Lexington, Virginia, at CPTF-Corps Physical Training Facility from Feb. 27-28.
