Men’s DMR Takes Bronze, Spartans Shine on Day 1 of SoCon Indoor Championships

LEXINGTON, VA. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's & women's track opened competition Friday at the 2026 Southern Conference (SoCon) Indoor Track & Field Championships, running on day one inside the VMI Corps Physical Training Complex.   
 
The men's 4000-meter distance medley relay quartet of Lane Prochaska, Glodi Mvovi, Samuel Barnard and Logan Ruffner clocked in a time of 10:08.60 placing third overall. This time is now third in UNCG records.
 
Two from the men's team qualified for finals, while one on the women's side qualified.
 
Emery Anderson clocked in a time of 49.78 in the 400-meter preliminary run, finishing eighth out of 13, qualifying for the finals on Saturday.
 
Samuel Barnard placed seventh out of 14 competitors in the 800-meter preliminary round. His time of 1:54.05 qualified him for the finals. Mvovi finished in the top 10 with his personal best time of 1:55.61, taking home ninth overall.
 
Luke Hühn (8:23.61) and Luke Ward (8:28.57) both placed in the top 10 of the 3000-meter run, earning eighth and ninth, respectively.
 
On the women's side, Joelle Tonne clocked in a time of 5:11.52, finishing eighth out of 13 competitors in the mile. This time qualified her for the final round on Saturday. She also clocked in a season best time of 2:18.91 in the 800-meter run, finishing 12th out of 19 competitors.
 
Vicky Sosa and Hailey Meyers both earned top 10 finishes in the 3000-meter event. Sosa ran a season best time of 10:13.74, while Meyers crossed the finish line with a personal best time of 10:17.19.
