GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's basketball team will conclude the 2025-26 regular season on Saturday by facing The Southern Conference (SoCon) foe Western Carolina on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. inside the Ramsey Center.
UNCG is guaranteed to be the No. 7 seed going into 2026 SoCon Tournament, The Spartans will take on the to be determined No. 2 seed in the quarterfinal round on Thursday, March 5 at 1:15 p.m. at the Harrah's Cherokee Center in Asheville, North Carolina.
The Spartans are 42-40 in the all-time series against the Catamounts. UNCG secured the meeting with Western Carolina earlier this season on Sunday, Feb. 1 in Greensboro, 55-46.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE SPARTANS
- UNCG dropped both its SoCon road contests last week, falling at ETSU, 52-39, on Thursday and in a close battle at Chattanooga on Saturday, 56-54.
- Makiah Asidanya and Rylan Moffitt paced the game against the Bucs with nine points apiece.
- Jeni Levine led the Spartans with 15 points, four assists, three triples and one block at Chattanooga.
ABOUT THE SPARTANS
- UNCG comes into Saturday's contest 13-15 overall and 3-10 in the SoCon.
- UNCG is leading the SoCon in five statistical categories: assist/turnover ratio (0.92), assists per game (13.1), scoring defense (55.3), scoring margin (7.5) and turnover margin (3.43).
- The Blue & Gold are second in the league in free throw percentage (74.8), offensive rebounds per game (12.8), three-point attempts per game (22.7) and three-pointers per game (7.1).
- The Spartans' 55.3 scoring defense is eighth in the country.
- Levine (14.3) and Asidanya (10.8) are pacing the Spartans in double-figure scoring this season.
- UNCG is leading its opponents in several statistical categories: points (62.8-55.4), field goals (22.6-19.8), three-pointers (7.1-5.1), rebounding (36.5-34.2), assists (13.1-10.0), assist/turnover ratio (0.9-0.6), points off turnovers (17.4-11.5) and steals (9.1-6.8).
- Asidanya (Nov. 11) and Jaila Lee (Jan. 13) have both picked up SoCon Player of the Week accolades for the 2025-26 season.
- UNCG was voted to finish second with two first-place votes in the SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- Lee and Asidanya were selected to the SoCon Preseason All-Conference Team after both of their stellar performances last season.
- The reigning SoCon Coach of the Year, Head Coach Trina Patterson is in her 10th year with the Blue & Gold this season.
- The 2025-26 roster features five returners and eight newcomers. Four of the newcomers are freshmen, while the other four are transfer students.
- UNCG comes into the 2025-26 season after a historic 2024-25 campaign.
- The Spartans earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament last season for the first time since 1998. The team defeated Chattanooga, 64-57, in The 2025 SoCon Championship, earning an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
- The team fell to No. 1 USC in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, California.
SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
- Western Carolina comes into Saturday's contest 3-24 overall and 0-13 in the SoCon.
- The Catamounts most recently fell in their final two regular season road contests last week, at Chattanooga, 52-36 and ETSU, 61-51.
- Ally Hollifield is ranked second in the SoCon in free throw percentage (82.7), steals per game (2.07) and three-point attempts (178).
- Ary Dizon leads the Catamounts in blocked shots, averaging 1.5 per game.
- The Catamounts were picked to finish seventh in the 2025 SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- Head Coach Jonathan Tsipis is in his second season at the helm of the Western Carolina women's basketball program.
- Western Carolina concluded the 2024-25 season 13-17 overall and 3-11 in conference.

FLEMING GYMNASIUM RENAMED BODFORD ARENA
- On Saturday, Nov. 8, Fleming Gymnasium, home to UNCG volleyball, women's basketball and men's basketball was renamed to Bodford Arena.
- This historic moment for the department was made possible through a transformational $2 million gift from the Bodford family.
- This generous support represents the largest unrestricted gift in the history of UNCG Athletics, as well as the first associated with naming a competitive athletic facility.
- The University is already familiar with the Bodford name - the Bodford Family Speed, Strength & Conditioning Center was dedicated in October 2020.
