SoCon Announces Softball Weekly Honors 

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team saw junior Brooklyn Shroyer named The Southern Conference (SoCon) Pitcher of the Week, announced on Monday.
 
This is the third weekly award for the Spartans this season, as Shroyer received the honor on Feb. 23 and March 9.
 
Shroyer was one of two Spartans this week with a 2-0 record in the circle, as UNCG went 4-0, including an opening SoCon sweep over ETSU.
 
In two appearances and two starts, Shroyer posted an 0.00 ERA, while tossing one complete game with 11.0 innings thrown. She gave up four hits, no runs, one walk and struck out 14 batters. She kept opponents to a .108 batting average.
 
She first had four strikeouts in 4.0 innings of work against Southern Mississippi at UNCG Softball Stadium on Wednesday, where she earned the win after defeating them 8-1. Shroyer then tossed her eighth complete game of the season in a 4-0 victory over ETSU on Saturday. In the shutout, she threw 7.0 innings, striking out 10 batters and gave up just two hits. Her 10 strikeouts match a season best, which she had in a 9-0 win over Canisius back on Feb. 20.
 
This was the 22^nd game in her career and second this season with double-digit strikeouts. She now has seven shutouts this season, bringing her career total 15.
 
With the sweep over ETSU, the Spartans extended their win streak to seven. The 9-0 victory over ETSU on Sunday is the 11th shutout this season for UNCG and matches the 2023 season's 11 shutouts.

Among the SoCon, Shroyer is leading the conference in complete games (8), ERA (1.43), hits allowed per seven innings (3.76), innings pitched (93.0), pitching appearances (19), shutouts (7), strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.39), strikeouts (112), victories (11) and WHIP (.89).

She is nationally ranked in shutouts (3^rd/7), hits allowed per seven innings (12^th/3.76), strikeouts (14^th/112), ERA (18^th/1.43), WHIP (10^th/.89), victories (20^th/11), complete games (26^th/8), innings pitched (31^st/93.0) and strikeouts per seven innings (31^st/8.4).

UNCG continues on the road to face SoCon foe Western Carolina next weekend beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 28 starting at 1:00 p.m. The third game is set for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 29. All three games will be played at Catamount Softball Complex in Cullowhee, North Carolina.
