LYNCHBURG, VA. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's & women's track teams competed in the two-day Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic on Friday and Saturday at Shellenberger Field & Dr. Jack M. Toms Track, hosted by Lynchburg University.
Luke Hühn took home the individual title in the 5000-meter invitational section, clocking in a personal best time of 14:39.79.
Pierson Guerrant and
Spencer Slayton also took home top five finishes out of the field of 22 competitors. Guerrant ran a season-best time of 15:02.37, finishing in second place, and Slayton earned fourth place with a personal best time of 15:08.82.
Khalid Abdullahi finished second overall in the 22-competitor field in the mile running a personal best time of 4:08.27.
Glodi Mvovi,
Brodie Schneider,
Samuel Barnard and
Jeremiah Jones ran in the 4x400m relay, where they placed sixth out of 10 teams, running a time of 3:25.02.
Spencer Connick ran a season-best time of 10:14.77 in the 3000-meter steeplechase, placing third out of eight competitors.
Donovan Johnson finished the event with a personal best time of 10:20.13, taking home fourth.
Kaitlyn Harrison earned a top five finish out of 20 competitors in the 5000-meter run with a time of 19:53.40
In the 5000-meter invitational, three Spartans earned a top 10 finish, including
Tenley Douglass who ran a personal best time of 18:07.67, taking fifth out of 19 competitors.
Camryn Oates placed seventh with her personal best time of 18:26.80 and
Sierra Collins ran a time of 18:31.53, following Oates in eighth place.
Alana Hill,
Maddison McIntyre,
Olivia Congleton and
Ayzia Jefferson placed third out of seven teams in the 4x100-meter relay, clocking in a time of 48.15.
Hill also competed in the 100-meter sprint, where she qualified for finals with a time of 12.53. She then ran a time of 12.42 in the finals, placing sixth out of 32 competitors.
Hailey Meyers (7
th/2:21.24) and
Joelle Tonne (8
th/2:21.65) earned top 10 marks in the 800-meter event our of 54 competitors.
Chelsea Valdivia-Rizo ran a personal best time of 1:08.38 in the 400-meter hurdles, placing fourth out of 14 competitors.
