GREENSBORO, N.C. – Former UNC Greensboro (UNCG) left-handed pitcher Noah Chapman inked a professional contract with the Baltimore Orioles in July, officially signing with the organization shortly after going undrafted in the 2026 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft. 

"This opportunity means everything to me and my family. They've sacrificed so much to help me chase this dream, so being able to sign and take the next step is really special," Chapman stated. "I'm thankful to everyone who's believed in me throughout my career, and I'm excited for what's ahead!"

The former junior and native of Summerville, South Carolina, spent all three of his collegiate seasons with the Spartans and made 55 appearances on the mound. Through 194.2 innings pitched, Chapman posted a record of 12-12 with an overall ERA of 5.83. He compiled 195 strikeouts while working on the bump.

Chapman is the fourth former Spartan to sign with the Orioles, following Collin Woody (2016), Kris Richards (2012), and Lance Surridge (1997). He joins Surridge as the second pitcher in that group and Richards as the second former member of the Blue & Gold to sign with Baltimore after going undrafted.

It has been an honor to watch him grow and develop on the field and as a person for the last three years," stated UNCG Head Baseball Coach Cody Ellis. "Chappy was a prime example of someone who didn't care what his role was, whether it was starting, closing, or coming in the middle of a game, he always wanted the ball no matter what. We are proud of Noah and wish him the most success on his journey to the big leagues."

In his debut 2024 campaign, Chapman earned All-Freshman recognition from The Southern Conference (SoCon) as a key arm in UNCG's run to the Regular Season Conference title. In 19 appearances, Chapman hurled 45.2 innings as he fanned 37 batters and allowed an opposing batting average of .241.

Chapman's strongest work came as a sophomore, as he posted a 5-3 record in 21 appearances with one save. The lefty threw 68.1 innings, logging 76 strikeouts to just 16 walks on the way to a collegiate-best 5.14 ERA. 

His final season in Greensboro saw Chapman move into a new role as a starter for the Spartans, where he saw action in 80.2 innings. Despite making the jump to throwing the fourth-most innings in the SoCon, Chapman adjusted well by posting the fourth-most strikeouts (82) to just 34 walks, posting an overall record of 4-6 in 15 appearances. 

Prior to arriving at UNCG, Chapman played his high school ball at Summerville and P27 Performance Academy.
