GREENVILLE, SC Chibuzo Aguocha notched 21 kills for Furman to give the Lady Paladins a season sweep of UNC Greensboro with a 3-1 victory Saturday afternoon in Southern Conference women's volleyball action at Alley Gym.
Aguocha's match-leading 21 kills led four Furman (12-14, 8-8 SoCon) double digit kill efforts on the day. Emily Harby put away 13 kills, while Whitney Purser and Ally Hock each came up with 12 and 10 kills respectively.
UNCG (4-22, 2-13 SoCon) was led offensively by junior Hilary Overby with 10 kills. Senior Lauren Richards and freshman Liz Benzschawel had six and five kills apiece. Senior Adrian Hicks had 30 assists and junior Christin Heverly had a team-leading 12 digs. Freshman Kaitlyn Nortz had seven blocks.
For Furman, Kim Tonkin recorded a team-best 15 digs, while Molly Rybak totaled 50 assists and 10 digs.
Furman, who was playing its final home game in 2005, has won four of its last five matches. UNCG has dropped its last two outings after the Spartans had won two of their prior three matches.
UNCG remains in South Carolina on Sunday for a SoCon match against Wofford at 2 pm in Spartanburg. Meanwhile, Furman visits Davidson next Friday for a league tilt at 7 pm in Davidson, NC.
