GREENSBORO, NC – Junior pitcher Chris Mason (4-2) tossed a four-hitter, striking out a school-record 16 batters, as the UNC Greensboro baseball team defeated East Tennessee State, 6-2, in Southern Conference baseball action Friday night at the UNCG Baseball Stadium.

The junior right-hander from Cherryville, NC allowed no walks and two unearned runs in recording his second complete game this season. He also went 1-for-4 at the plate, extending his hitting streak to a team-best nine games.

Senior second baseman Jeremy Roulin went 3-for-5 with 2 RBI to pace the Spartan attack that recorded 12 hits on the night. Justin Crist and Logan Smith added two hits each for the Spartans who have won four straight games.

UNCG (15-6, 6-1 SoCon) pushed across five runs in the second inning to open a 5-0 lead. Roulin highlighted the inning with a two-run bases loaded single to left field.

East Tennessee State (11-7, 2-5 SoCon) scored both of their runs in the third inning on run-scoring singles by Nick Crowe and Caleb Moore.

The Spartans added an insurance run in the third when Smith drove in Jake Linney from second base.
