UNCG Baseball Ends Season with an 8-2 loss to College of Charleston at the SoCon Tournament

CHARLESTON, SC – Chris Campbell went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two home runs as College of Charleston defeated UNC Greensboro, 8-2, in game five of the Pepsi-Cola/Wendy's Southern Conference Baseball Tournament. College of Charleston improves to 45-12, while the Spartans finish the season at 31-22.

                                               

Campbell's home runs, both two-run shots, came in the first and eighth innings.

 

Brett Gardner increased the Cougar lead to 4-0 in the fifth inning on a two-run home run over the scoreboard in left field.

 

UNCG cut the lead in half with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Jeremy Roulin brought in the first run on a double in the gap in left center scoring Mike Mongiello from second. Roulin scored one batter later on Jake Linney's single to left field. 

 

Campbell gave the Cougars a 6-2 lead in the seventh on his second home run of the game.

 

Ryan Edell (7-2) got the win for College of Charleston advances and will play the winner of the ETSU-The Citadel game on Friday. Chris Mason (6-7) suffered the loss for the Spartans.
