CHARLESTON, SC – The UNC Greensboro women's volleyball team had its four-match winning streak snapped with a 3-0 loss to first place College of Charleston in Southern Conference action Saturday afternoon at Kresse Arena.
Sophomore Kaitlyn Nortz had eight kills to lead UNCG (15-8, 4-5 SoCon). Junior Lauren Keiser added seven kills, while senior Hilary Overby and freshman Branagan Fuller each put away six kills for the Spartans. Freshman Lisa Fawell dished out 28 assists, while freshman Catherine Hanners continues her dominance on the defensive end with a team-leading 11 digs.
Emily Sawin led Charleston (14-5, 8-0 SoCon) to its 49th straight conference home victory with 14 kills, while Tiffany Blum and Deanna Patrick each contributed eight kills for the Cougars. Lindsey Kane handed out 31 assists and Marie Dobrenz came up with 19 digs.
After playing only five home matches to this point in the season, UNCG will now host six of its last nine contests at the friendly confines of Fleming Gym. Next up, the Spartans welcome SoCon rival Elon on Tuesday at 7 pm. The Phoenix held on for a 3-2 win over the Spartans on its home court back on September 12.
