GREENSBORO, N.C.- The UNCG women's basketball team (1-1) welcomes Francis Marion (2-0) to Fleming Gymnasium for a non-conference game Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Spartans are looking to bounce back following last Sunday's 92-44 loss at No. 2 South Carolina (2-0). Live stats will be available at UNCGSpartans.com and the game will be broadcasted live on the SoCon Digitial Network with Parker Southern providing the call.
The Spartans opened the season with a 94-38 win over Pfeiffer last week in Fleming and are looking to continue the winning trend in the 1,800-seat arena.
Leading UNCG in scoring is senior Lucy Mason (Stone Mountain, Ga./Chamblee Charter) who's averaging 20.0 points per game. She led all scorers in the Spartans season opening win and had a game-high 20 points against South Carolina.
Last time UNCG was home, junior India Timpton (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) recorded her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. She currently leads the team with 8.0 rebounds per game.
Francis Marion jumped out to a 2-0 start opening weekend with wins at the Peach Belt/Conference Carolinas Challenge in Dahlonega, Ga. The Patriots defeated Erskine 73-65 in the opener and a day later defeated North Greenville 69-55.
Alaysia Watts is currently averaging 17.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game, to lead the team. Briana Burgins and TeTe Flowers are both averaging double figures with 14.5 and 11.0 points per game, respectively.
The Patriots have outscored their opponents by an average of 11.0 points per game and are shooting 40.2 percent from the field.
Wednesday game marks the first regular season meeting between the to teams in program history.
