GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG Women's Basketball team hosts Longwood (0-3) Saturday in non-conference action. The Spartans (2-3) look to add another tally in the wins column inside Fleming Gymnasium at 2 p.m. Live stats will be available at UNCGSpartans.com.
Last Tuesday night UNCG fell to undefeated Gardner-Webb on the road, 57-59. The Spartans were led by Southern Conference Player of the Week Lucy Mason (Stone Mountian, Ga./Chamblee Charter) who tallied a game-high 28 points for her fifth 20-point performance of the season. Mason was the only member of UNCG's squad to score in double figures.
Shanese Harris (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) was second on the team in scoring with nine points and four assists while the Spartans leader in rebounds per game, India Timpton (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) had a team-best nine boards.
Mason's 27.2 points per game currently paces the SoCon and ranks third in the nation.
Longwood is continues its season-opening road trip Saturday after falling to Virginia, 46-81, Sunday, November 22. Deborah Headen and Kyndal Skersick are pacing the Landers with seven points per game each. Through the first three games of the season, Longwood has been outscored by an averaged of 52.7 points per game by its opponents. The Lancers are shooting just 24.1 percent from the floor and 19.4 percent from behind the arc.
Saturday's game marks the 28th meeting between the two in program history. UNCG leads the all-time series 16-11 most recently defeating the Lancers on the road, 70-64, last season. UNCG is 7-7 at home against Longwood.
