UNCG Women's Basketball Returns Home Monday Against Hawks

Greensboro, N.C.- The UNCG women's basketball team (6-7) returns home Monday after a four-game road stretch. UNCG is coming off a come-from-behind win over Cleveland State last Monday. The Spartans went 2-2 over the last four games and 2-1 during their time in New Orleans. Net up for UNCG is Maryland-Eastern Shore (3-10) inside Fleming Gymnasium for a 5 p.m. tip-off. UNCG is looking to close out the 2015 portion of the season on a high note as the Spartans chase their first winning record heading into conference play for the first time since the 2000-01 season. The Spartans have already matched their total wins (6) from a season ago as senior Lucy Mason (Stone Mountain, Ga./Chamblee Charter) is within reach of becoming UNCG's all-time career points leader by the new year.

UMES is looking to snap a five-game slide that dates back to December 9. The Hawks last win took place December 7 at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro.

Moengaroa Subritzky leads the Hawks with 10.4 points per game while Tayana Kelly leads the team with 6.6 rebounds per game. As a team, UMES is shooting 33.9 percent from the field while allowing opponents to average 64.7 points per game shooting over 40 percent from the field.

UNCG is paced by Mason, the Southern Conference leader in points per game (24) and total steals (34). India Timpton (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) leads the team with 7.8 boards per game while Jade Scaife (Fort Washington, Md./Archbishop Spalding) averages 8.6 ppg to rank third in scoring and 6.9 rpg for second in rebounds. As a squad, the Spartans average 65.1 points per game and is out rebounding opponents by 1.3 rpg.

Monday's matchup marks just the third meeting between the two programs and first since the 1995-96 season. UNCG leads the all-time series 2-0.
