Box Score Greenville, N.C. – The UNCG women's soccer team (3-6-1) lost its final non-conference match of the season, 1-0, at East Carolina Sunday afternoon. The Spartans have lost five straight contests entering Southern Conference play on the road at VMI Sunday, September 25.
Goalkeeper Chloe Buehler (Perrysburg, Ohio/Penn State) produced a clean slate in the first half making four saves. ECU outshout UNCG 9-4 in the opening 45 minutes and both teams took four corner kicks.
Annah Lindberg's unassisted goal on a free kick off the inside post in the 53rd minute was all the Pirates would need to win.
Caylin Prillaman (High Point, N.C./Wesleyan Christian Academy) led the Spartans with three shots while five other Spartans tallied a shot as ECU edged UNCG 17-10 in shots. Buehler totaled five saves overall in the loss.
Sunday's loss marks the third-straight to East Carolina as the Pirates lead the all-time series 3-2.
UNCG begins SoCon play on the road at VMI Sunday, September 25. The Keydets post a 3-6 record this season and are on a four-match losing streak following a 2-0 loss to Howard Sunday afternoon.
